About the course
Our training course is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills and knowledge required to operate a telescopic handler or ‘telehandler’ and its attachments in a range of heavy lifting. Telehandler operators use this versatile machinery for lifting and carrying materials in a range of industries including construction & infrastructure, mining/resources, transport & logistics and agriculture.
Course Outline
- Plan and prepare for telescopic materials handler operations
- Conduct telescopic materials handler pre-operational checks
- Operate telescopic materials handler
- Attach, secure, lift, carry and place materials
- Select, remove and fit attachments
- Relocate the telescopic materials handler
- Carry out machine operator maintenance
- Conduct housekeeping activities
- Civil construction terminology
Course Inclusions
- Training will be conducted by one of our experienced trainer / assessors who have resource industry currency and supported by a strong knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards.
- Practical and theoretical activities drive the training experience to ensure that the training is engaging, interesting and relevant.
- 2 days of training. Up to 6 trainees per course. A typical course runs from 07:30-15:30
- Be at least 16 years of age
- For our site, we supply all the equipment for the course.
- If we come to you, it’s the student’s responsibility to have a Telehandler and site to operate the Telehandler on.

Students who are assessed as competent will receive a Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. This certification is nationally recognised. The Statement is issued by Australian Operator Training (RTO 41351).
